Medicated Foundation to save the day

Acne can often transition into adulthood. Being so conscious about my skin, I would have never dared to leave the house without putting on makeup, which ultimately made my skin look and feel worse, until I discovered medicated foundation.

Medicated foundation is like your typical foundation or concealer, except it contains an acne-fighting ingredient. Most often it’s salicylic acid. Finding a foundation that not only provides exceptional coverage to blemish-prone skin but does not clog or irritate your skin, isn’t always easy. When selecting a foundation, look for products that are oil-free, noncomedogenic, and enriched with acne-fighting active ingredients.

Some tips and tricks to help your skin

  • If you like to apply your foundation with your fingertips, make sure your hands are clean.
  • If you apply your foundation with a brush or sponge, make sure to clean your brushes at least twice a week. Dirty brushes and sponges are more likely to cause spots than wearing makeup.
  • At the end of the day make sure you remove all traces of makeup, cleanse your face and do not sleep with any makeup on. Remember this is when your skin heals and breathes. A clean face is very important.
  • Change your pillow cases regularly.
